What is your response to adversity, trial, rejection or disappointment? Think about it? When someone or something disappoints you, what is your initial reaction? Do you stay in that disappointment for a long time or do you move on with a more positive outlook quickly? Do you look for the closest piece of food or do you take a moment to reflect-on and pray about how you feel? Do you call your spouse, a family member or a friend to vent or do you go buy something you know you can't afford? Do you throw back a nice strong drink or pick up a cigarette and smoke it? These are all scenarios you may have found yourself in at some point in your life or even this week?
I bring up these scenarios because I personally understand how important it is to work through hard times and hard emotions. Much of my life, I have found myself in disarray and dispare because I haven't acknowledged my true feelings regarding things that have happened to me. If you were to ask me what some of those things were you may think they were small and insignificant happenings but to me they were important.
Recently (within the last year), I have become more intentional about sharing how I feel. When things have come up, I have tried to tackle them before the emotions festered in my thoughts for too long. I won't lie when I say it has been difficult; both difficult to 1) acknowledge the feelings and 2) understand how to process the emotions behind them.
Sometimes I write these posts with a great idea on how to get you to the other side of your journey but today I can be honest and say I'm still walking it out. So as I walk it out, I will be honest with you about how it's going and how I'm winning. 😉
I wrote this blog today because some unnecessary feelings came up. I call them unnecessary because I know they weren't thoughts from God. They were definitely thoughts from an adversary trying to steal the progress that I'm making in life. I had an option to either pass or fail the test and I decided I wasn't coming out on the losing end. It's difficult sometimes but I'm so glad God is dealing with me on stuff and I'm actually listening. Imagine that!
I encourage you to keep pushing to stay on the winning side of life. It may not be the easiest thing to do and sometimes I know you want to do things the old way but you will never grow if you don't face the hard stuff head on.
Keep pushing! You've got this! Life and its situations aren't too hard for you to get through. You may have some tough moments but all will be well in the end.
