May is Mental Health Awareness month but honestly I haven't heard as much about it as I would have liked. We are so aware of certain subjects but not this one. Mental health is so often overlooked. People don't like to talk about when they feel sad or depressed. They fear being judged but the truth is more people suffer with mental illness than what they say.
If you struggle with negative thoughts, severe sadness and depression or even suicidal thoughts, please speak up! As someone who has suffered from depression numerous times in my life, I understand all the thoughts that may flow through your mind about speaking out. You feel like you may be judged, no one can help you, or that your struggles aren't as bad as someone around you. That is a lie! You are not alone and there is help for you. Don't be afraid to speak out to someone and let them know how you feel. You don't have to do it alone so please reach out! You are not alone!
